Bayer HealthCare's ”GlobalVision”
super-high-resolution prototype for a re-designed divisional intranet.
The intranet site of Bayer HealthCare Diagnostics Division required a major overhaul, Global Marketing was the first to move into the new design. That section is shown in this prototype, which closely replicates the user experience using working Cold Fusion scripts using simple arrays instead of a database.
My tasks included:
- Working with Global Marketing managers and staff to develop a cohesive information architecture, using tools such as site schematics, a detailed content inventory, and wireframes.
- Developing 4 different concepts for the banner graphic, then working iteratively with stakeholders to finalize the most popular version.
- Working within the corporate style guide to update the graphic design, then creating and slicing all images.
- Hand-coding the page templates using XHTML, ColdFusion, CSS, and JavaScript. The templates are scripted for interactivity with key site features, creating a ”super-high-fidelity prototype.” This improved project workflow by allowing:
- Stakeholders to review and approve a correct-to-the-pixel final design.
- End-users to prove the site's usability before any database-coding was done.
- Back-end developers to build inside of fully-realized templates.
* The prototype linked to from this site has only placeholder content; no live or proprietary data is displayed.
